New addition to our wedding cake service is a huge success.
I decided in September that I was going to offer cake tastings and consultations as part of our wedding cake service and since then bookings have been crazy.
I suppose it’s kind of an American custom – you always see cake tastings in American movies but it did get me thinking – it makes sense. Your wedding day is supposed to be the ‘best day of your life’ and every detail is supposed to be perfect, why shouldn’t you sample the cake?! There’s nothing worse than a cake that looks beautiful but is a let-down when you bite into it! Our flavour range is so extensive, whether it’s traditional Victoria Sponge or out there Chocolate and Peanut Butter, there really is something for everyone.
I wanted to give brides and grooms the full wedding cake experience so as part of the consultation I encourage couples to bring their ideas to the table. They can sample up to four different flavours for a maximum of four guests per tasting. Whilst trying the cakes, we run through design concepts together – what couples like, don’t like, colour schemes, themes and pictures of cakes they love. In the brides case Pinterest usually makes an appearance and I offer suggestions of what will work well from a design point of view – together we come up with a cake that is perfect for their big day. I really do love the personal approach and having the bride and grooms input makes their cake even more special.
Cake consultations are by appointment only and are priced at £20.00 – which is deducted from the wedding cake cost if a booking is made.
